Transport Stream Multiplexers - The MX-TS Series

The FlexStream Broadcast TV family of products were designed to meet the unique demands of the broadcast industry. While other companies lost interest in the linear TV market, West Pond continued to invest. Making many of our features best in class. Our mission-critical, broadcast-quality transport stream multiplexer can be configured into an edge QAM or enterprise grade tuner/capture/encoder for WAN distribution networks. Our datacasting solutions are designed to simultaneously support a wide range of content providers on a single broadcast. They have been used for remote education, first responder safety, earthquake early warning systems, and more.

The West Pond TS product family of multiplexers all run the same familiar, feature rich, FlexStream software while each has specific hardware capabilities that make them unique. The core FlexStream software provides a highly scalable multi-input, multi-output, transport stream multiplexer, a variety of physical interconnects and linear TV network protocols, and an easy to configure, analyze, and utilize user interface. All models maintain West Pond’s “best in class” PCR and IAT jitter timing which rivals any hardware based TS mux solution. Choose the solution that is best for you based upon the enclosure type, number and type of supported module bays, and overall processing power/bandwidth supported.

Transport stream sources supported include an integrated video server (TS file spooling), TSoIP UDP/RTP, RTSP (i.e. security cameras), HTTP (streaming internet sources), SRT, DTV tuners (option module), and ASI (optional module). The multiplexer output can feed TSoIP UDP/RTP, SRT, RTSP, integrated multi-standard RF modulators (optional module), and ASI (optional module). SMPTE 2022 (proMPEG) FEC is available on UDP/RTP IP inputs and outputs. Use the standard configuration or add modules to suit your application. This unit works well as a demux/remux “edge QAM” modulator, ASI to IP or IP to ASI converter, and DTV tuner transport redistribution. Of course the entire system can be remotely managed via FlexDM.

MX-200TS Broadcast Multiplexer

MX-200TS provides the same familiar FlexStream software features as the rack mounted MX units in a closet friendly, wall mount, form factor.  It supports a single FlexBay module as well as internal bays for a single/dual modulator, and tuner.  It is often used as an economical LAN to TV RF solution when equipped with a single or dual modulator and paired with the MX-400CC.  The split functionality allows the MX-400CC to be conveniently installed near the media source and the MX-200TS to be installed in a more difficult to reach cable TV communications closet.  It can also be configured with a quad TV tuner module for use as a remote node in a broadcast TV redistribution network.

MX-300TS Broadcast Multiplexer

The MX-300TS is the same mission critical broadcast quality multiplexer provided with our flagship MX-400TS but with enhanced processing, storage and networking capabilities.  The MX-300TS is one of our fastest CPUs and it can process up to 2500 Mb/s from/to IP sources.  The MX-300 chassis supports two independent GigE ports and a single FlexBay module that is 10 Gig Ethernet compatible.  This unit is the perfect fit for high-bandwidth, multi-channel IP to IP multiplexer applications.

MX-400TS Broadcast Multiplexer

The MX-400TS, our original TS multiplexer product, was designed to maximize interconnect flexibility.  The MX-400 chassis supports four GigE ports, four FlexBay modules, one internal single/dual modulator bay, and one tuner bay.  This unit can process up to 500 Mb/s while maintaining our “best in class” PCR and IAT jitter timings.  Add modulators to create an edge QAM system, tuners to build a broadcast TV redistribution network, ASI modules for broadcast applications, or just use the four GigE ports for IP remuxing and signaling.

MX-500TS Broadcast Multiplexer

The MX-500TS can process 25% more data than the MX-400TS but with fewer expansion module bays making it slightly less flexible than the 400 and at a lower data rate than the 550.  The MX-500 two module bay chassis supports ASI, quad TV tuners, and multiport modulators.   Choose this unit over the MX-400 if your multiplexing application requires processing data rates of less than 500 Mb/s and your option module requirements can be met by the MX-500 enclosure.

MX-550TS Broadcast Multiplexer

The MX-550TS combines the high bit rate multiplexing capabilities of the MX-300TS with the module bay flexibility of the MX-400.  The MX-500TS can process up to 2500 Mb/s from/to IP sources or expansion modules while continuing to maintain our “best in class” jitter timings.  The MX-500 two module bay chassis supports ASI, quad TV tuners, and multiport modulators.   This unit is the perfect fit for multi-channel edge QAM, broadcast TV IP redistribution, or an IP to IP multiplexer applications that don’t need 10 Gb/s Ethernet but need a little more I/O than the MX-300TS.
